I grew up watching my mom decorate cakes and sew clothes, my dad design circuit boards, and my grandma arrange flowers and knit blankets, hats, mittens, and more. As a child, my favorite toys were LEGOs, construction paper, scribble pads, crayons, paint, cray pas, glue, string, wire, scissors, and tape. I have fond memories of designing seasonal displays for my grandmother's refrigerator, weaving potholders, painting at my easel, weaving bits of wire into crowns, tying friendship bracelets, stringing beads, hooking rugs, and, especially, helping my mom make cookies for every special occasion. Though my skills haven't necessarily improved with my age, I still love to be creatively messy.
